Our first Winter Warmer meal was a huge success. On the lead up to the day, everything that could go wrong did. From running around at the last minute for supplies and a last-minute change of who was cooking, to alarms going off at silly o’clock in the morning when we were preparing the food, it is safe to say we were not popular with the steward.
It could not have gone better, and the feedback was so good that, when asked if people would like the event again, several people requested that we do it every Sunday.
Through raffles and kind donations, with the meal and entertainment costing only £5 to secure places, we have managed to earmark £1,500 ready for this year’s Veterans Christmas Campaign.
