After a difficult end personally to 2024, 2025 was set for me to find myself again. It was to be a personal journey to challenge myself, focus on my mental health and practice what I preached of learning to lean on others when needed and talk more about my difficulties.
This meant easing off the pedal from being the driving force of SCCP to be able to reignite that passion once more and find what direction SCCP truly wanted to go.
I stepped out of my comfort zone massively and stepped into the boxing ring, twice! Fighting in March and July at Bowlers in Manchester in front of approximately 2000 people each time was certainly a huge challenge but one that I pulled my now slightly smaller big girl pants up for; having lost almost 3 stone and came out victorious TWICE!
August saw me ticking off another of the Three Peaks; Scafell Pike off the bucket list. I donned my Baton of Hope Tshirt and battled to be physically and mentally on top of the World (well England at least).
September 12 was an extremely humbling day, to be part of the Baton of Hope, a national suicide prevention movement honestly blew me away. What was a very poignant day was also full of absolute love, respect, admiration and of course hope for us to raise the awareness of such a delicate topic which sincerely needs more support for its prevention.
November should have seen me fighting for a third time, however an old injury forced me to postpone till hopefully the new year, now came for a new spin; can we encourage others to challenge themselves, get involved and do physical challenges to help us raise money? If you’re interested PLEASE get involved touch!!
Our Veterans Christmas Campaign is in full swing with a minimum of 200 boxes of biscuits and 500 cards being distributed to Veterans in the community and cards to the Chelsea Pensioners as well as contributing to Veterans having their Christmas meal for free I really do love this campaign.
I’ve had the opportunity to attend a number of schools within Oldham and Tameside to talk about the importance of not only Remembrance but respecting and being considerate to our Veterans and Armed Forces all year round, in particular at Christmas .
2026
So what does 2026 hold for SCCP? Charity status is top of the agenda with a clear focus on mental health and supporting our Veterans in particular.
We will be hosting a wide range of events starting with our Winter Warmer Meal in January kindly supported by our sponsor Mahoney Catering Management, where we will be providing a 3-course meal for 100 Veterans!
Keep your eyes peeled for future events and where you can get involved. Your support as always is appreciated!
